BAHAMASThe Bahamas is a country and an archipelago in the Caribbean that achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1973. The country consists of 700 larger islands and another 2500 or so mini islands. Thirty to forty percent of the islands are inhabited. The largest island is Andros and some of the other islands include Grand Bahama, Great Abaco, Great Inagua, Eleuthera, Cat, San Salvador, Acklins, Crooked and Mayaguana. The capital is Nassau.
The Bahamas is known for its white beaches.
