HAITI
Haiti is located in the Caribbean Sea and is one of the two countries on the island of Hispaniola, together with the Dominican Republic. Haiti is well-known for its crippling poverty, being regularly struck by floods, earthquakes and hurricanes. The months of January, February, March, June, July and December are the best time to visit Haiti, for in this way you avoid the hurricane season. While the capital, Port-au-Prince, forms the main attraction, other large cities like Carrefour and Delmas, too, are well worth seeing. The ever-friendly population is descended for the larger part from slaves deported to Haiti from Africa in the past. Haiti has much to offer to the tourist, including luxury hotels, beautiful beaches, a rich history and a many-faceted culture. Top sights include the Citadelle Laferrière fort, the top of which offers a splendid view over the surroundings, the magnificent Bassin Bleu falls, the Papillon Enterprise with its antique shops, old ruins and modern stores, the Cathedrale Notre Dame de Cap Haitien, the Cathedrale de Milot, and the National History Park Citadel Sans Souci Ramiers (UNESCO). Never a dull moment on Haiti!$488,-
