Miami is located in the state of Florida, in the southeastern United States. Miami Beach is a popular holiday destination. Since the 1960s, a large Cuban and South American community has lived there. English and Spanish are spoken in Miami. The climate is tropical, the dry season and high season lasts from November to April and the rainy season from May to October. Hurricane season from June to November.Miami is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the wetlands of the Everglades and is 110 miles long from north to south, and less than 20 miles wide from east to west. Downtown Miami has 500,000 residents and the entire metropolitan area has more than 6 million! On the mainland is Downtown district, the financial center, government buildings, museums and theaters.
Miami Beach is a separate municipality on a peninsula (reef) on the coast. The beautiful white sandy beaches and the many hotels are a holiday paradise where you need a well-filled wallet. Along the beaches you will find hotels, restaurants, casinos and nightclubs. Entrance and ordering alcohol above 21 years! Expensive cars drive on Ocean Drive and you can spot celebrities. The Oceanfront Boardwalk, a walking and cycling path, is no less than 6 kilometers long! You know it from TV and movies and it is your dream to walk around here yourself!
North Beach is quite quiet. On Mid Beach you can run, cycle, skateboard, jog and walk. On the beaches there is space to play volleyball, surf and paraglide, beautiful to see!
At South Beach there are luxury shopping streets such as Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue. The Lincoln Road Mall is a pedestrian shopping center. Here you will find well-known clothing brands, cafes, numerous terraces and restaurants with Cuban, Colombian, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese and French cuisine.
The Art Deco district has 1000 buildings from the 1920s and 1930s, when Miami was a flashy tourist destination. The buildings have been restored and painted in pastel colors. The Art Deco Welcome Center has information and maps.
Bayside Market is a shopping mall at the marina. There are shops, restaurants, and travel agencies where you can book excursions and boat trips.
Do you want to enjoy tropical nature? The wetlands area of the Everglades is a birdwatchers paradise where you can also encounter crocodiles, snakes and turtles. A boat trip is ideal.
Fairchild Tropical Gardens is a botanical garden of 34 hectares with palms, bamboo, succulents and cacti. Here you can take a relaxed walk or take the tram.
Miami Venetian Pool is a natural swimming pool carved into the rocks, with fountains, waterfalls and caves. The cool water comes from underground springs. It was once a location of the beauty pageants.
Events in Miami include the Ultra Music Festival, the Latino Street Festival in Calle Ocho, Carnival, Jazz Festivals, Fashion Shows, Cooking Contests and Galas. Tickets often sell out a year in advance! Beach parties and live music are always there!
