The Commewijne district, renowned for its large number of plantations in the colonial era, is situated due east of Paramaribo on the other side of the Suriname river. Depending on the route, this tour will acquaint you with daily life in this region. You will e.g. visit the small farmers, fishermen, and fish processors, as well as the various impressive remains of the once-glorious plantations that will remind you of the horrible era of slavery.
