Knini Paati is a small jungle resort with nine spacious lodges, perfect for a few days’ relaxation. The resort endeavours to help its guests achieve optimum levels of relaxation.
Each of the nine lodges has its own veranda with a view of the river and the rapids, hammocks, air conditioning and a fan. Use of the WiFi is free of charge, as is the swimming pool.

You depart for Atjoni from Paramaribo around 9 am. There are two comfort breaks to go to the toilet or to eat a snack on the way. Early afternoon, you arrive in Atjoni from where you begin a boat trip of an hour to Knini Paati. On arrival, there’s the opportunity to rest up and enjoy a hot meal before checking-in and making yourself at home in the lodge. There’s even time to go swimming or to relax in the sula (rapids).
The first excursion is at 4 pm. It takes a couple of hours, but you are back in time to freshen up before the evening meal at 7 pm. You get ready afterwards for the second excursion: a night-time boat trip to spot caimans. On return to the resort, you can relax in your lodge or enjoy a nice cold djogo.
Day 2
Breakfast is ready at 8 am. At 9 am it’s time for your third excursion that will take a couple of hours. You are back on time at 11 am to check out and lunch is ready for you at 11:30 am. At 12 pm, it’s time for the return trip to Atjoni, where you are picked up by our driver to take you back to Paramaribo. The journey includes a comfort break. You return to your holiday address, with the satisfaction of an extraordinary experience in Upper Suriname.

For larger groups, there is a dance workshop given by the local group Pasensi Uma.
Day 3
The third day of your stay is again focussed on relaxation. Breakfast is ready again at 8 am, after which you can enjoy the last few hours on the island, maybe lounging on the balcony of your lodge in a hammock or swimming in the sula (rapids) before returning to the rush of Paramaribo. Check-out is at 11 am before a delicious lunch at 11:30 am. At 12 pm, it’s the return trip to Atjoni, where you are picked up by our driver. The journey includes a comfort break. You return to your holiday address, with the satisfaction of an extraordinary experience in Upper Suriname.

You depart at 9 am, led by a guide and our team. It is a demanding hike lasting a couple of hours. On arrival, you get settled in and begin to experience the jungle as the local people and their ancestors have always done. You sleep in a hammock, bathe in the river and cook on a wood fire you make yourself. You spend the evening hours, just like the local inhabitants, listening to an oral history passed on by means of stories and anecdotes. Breakfast the next day is at 9 am again, and after a short break, the hike back to the pick-up point begins.
Day 4
You awake to discover that you have not only survived, but that your night in a hammock was incredibly comfortable! Breakfast was delicious and after the hike of a couple of hours and a short boat trip, you arrive back on the island, tired but satisfied. Your luggage is returned to you and you can freshen up and get changed. At 11 am it’s check-out time and a nice hot lunch is ready at 11:30 am. At 12 pm, it’s the return trip to Atjoni, where you are picked up by our driver to take you back to Paramaribo. The journey includes a comfort break. The camp is the base for the various activities that you undertake. You experience an entire day of life in the jungle, from dawn till dusk. You learn the most about the local inhabitants’ way of life today.
Day 4
You awake to discover that you have not only survived, but that your night in a hammock was incredibly comfortable! Breakfast was delicious and after the hike of a couple of hours and a short boat trip, you arrive back on the island tired but satisfied. Your luggage is returned to you and you can freshen up and get changed. At 11 am it’s check-out time and a nice hot lunch is ready at 11:30 am. At 12 pm, it’s the return trip to Atjoni, where you are picked up by our driver to take you back to Paramaribo. The journey includes a comfort break. You also have lunch there, prepared with local ingredients, so you also eat the same as the local inhabitants. After the evening meal at 7 pm, you can prepare yourself for the big day tomorrow, when you travel to our jungle camp to spend the night.
