General
Jungle lodge Palumeu, close to the indigenous village with the same name, is located along the Upper Tapanahony river, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. You will be fascinated by this section of the tropical rainforest, in which howler monkeys and birds announce the dawn of each new day, with its impressive rapids, unique fauna and flora, and the current lifestyle of the indigenous Trio and Wajana people. This tour is ideal for nature lovers, who wish to experience the forest the same way as the indigenous population has been doing for centuries, but then in reasonable comfort.

Transport
You will embark at the Zorg en Hoop airport in Paramaribo on a seventy-five-minute flight to Palumeu’s landing strip.
Stay
The lodges, two under one roof, were built in a traditional style, with a veranda that offers you a splendid view of the river. Each lodge has a bedroom with two single beds with mosquito nets, and your own toilet and shower with cold running water.
Facilities
Meals are served in the comfortable communal “restaurant”. You can also spend some time in the cosy jungle-bar lounge. And for relaxation, there are several hammocks at the river.
4-Day Tour
Day 1
Following your arrival, you will be taken to the beautiful Palawa island for lunch in the form of a picnic and a refreshing dip in the cool river water. In the afternoon, you will visit the Native American village of Palumeu, where you will be introduced to the current way of life of these oldest inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2
This day will be devoted to climbing Potihill, a granite hill. You will be rewarded for your efforts with a breathtaking view at the top. Upon your return in the afternoon, you will given the opportunity to learn to shoot with bow and arrow.
Day 3
In the morning, you will leave by korjaal for the Mabuka waterfalls where you will spend the day relaxing. There is also a walk through the jungle for those who are more active. In the evening, you will be taken on a night-time trip on the river, to enjoy the nocturnal sounds of the jungle.
Day 4
In the morning, you will go for an extensive walk through the village. You will leave for Paramaribo after lunch.
5-Day Tour
Day 1 to day 3 inclusive
The same as day one to day three inclusive of the four-day tour.
Day 4
The guide will take you on a jungle trip in the morning. You can spend this morning any way you like.
Day 5
In the morning, you will visit the village of Palumeu for an extensive village walking tour. After lunch, you will return to Paramaribo.
